SYMBOLIC PAINTINGS BY MICHAEL PETER

In the exhibition hall of the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhhorod, under the patronage of Consul General Miroslav Mojzita, it was opened the chamber exposition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Michael Peter.

The famous Transcarpathian artist likes the most to work with watercolour, with help of which, in his opinion, it is possible to fully convey colour, tone, mood. But the exhibition presented his oil works performed over the past 20 years.

This is the fifteenth solo exhibition of the artist. Each of the exhibited paintings is symbolic for the artist since it fixes in time a specific stage of the artist's work and thus allows him to follow his creative path. The exposition is actually divided into two parts: one - realistic works, the other - pictures of the new artist’s period that were exhibited at the international biennials and triennials of contemporary abstract art (Chernivtsi – 2007, 2013, 2016; Kyiv – 2017). Realistic pictures convey the images of lyrical landscapes, mountains, Verkhovyna houses, seashore and spring wildflowers. However, everyone understands or feels an abstraction on his own way, though the names prompt certain reflections, that is – "Evening Venice", "Cologne Cathedral", "Heavy Shower", performed in restrained monochrome tones.
