"RAKHIV POLONYNY THROUGH THE EYES OF ARTISTS" EXHIBITION

On 8 December 2017 in the exhibition hall of the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum named after Y. Bokshai, it was opened an exhibition "Rakhiv Polonyny Through the Eyes of Artists".

This is a joint exposition of the nine Transcarpathian artists who have recently returned from the plein air in the mountainous region of Transcarpathia. Both the plein air and the exhibition are organized with the support of the Association of Professional Artists of Transcarpathia.

Presented at the exhibition are the works of Vasyl Popovych, Robert Tovt, Vladyslav Hanzel, Serhii Chyrskyi, Frantsysk Erfan, Stepan Sholtes and the Brenzovych family (father and two sons). Within 7 days the artists were in Rakhiv region at the invitation of the Regional Forestry and Hunting Management. The artists visited the mountain villages of Rakhiv district, forests, and even climbed to one of the peaks – Pip Ivan (Maramureș) (1936).

"Interesting is the fact that there were constant winds and bad weather at that peak," Robert Tovt, a member of the Association of Professional Artists of Transcarpathia, told. But the day we climbed there, the weather was perfect – it was snowy and sunny. And we were lucky enough to paint in that beauty. In general, the plein air is very encouraging to work. When you alone, you will find a thousand reasons not to paint, and together with other artists, these reasons simply disappear."

Each artist presented 3 paintings created during the plein air – these are landscapes of the picturesque sceneries of Rakhiv district. The works are mainly painted with oil, as well as acrylic and gouache.

"Believe me, there was a lot to paint," says the head of the graphic section of the Association of Professional Artists of Transcarpathia and the head of the Transcarpathian Organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine Vladyslav Hanzel. There are no more such beauties as in the Rakhiv district. This trip was very motivated and encouraging to creativity."

The exhibition "Rakhiv Polonyny Through the Eyes of Artists" will last for 2 weeks.
