EDUARD PRYKHODKO'S EXHIBITION "SUBJECTIVE REFLECTIONS" IN KROPYVNYTSKYI

On 16 February 2018, it was opened the personal exhibition of the Transcarpathian artist Eduard Prykhodko in Kropyvnytskyi.

The exhibition under the title "Subjective Reflections" is held with the support of the Art & Culture Brovdi Art in co-operation with the "Yelisavethrad" Gallery.

Eduard Prykhodko is well-known to the Transcarpathian admirers of art, and now he is in Kropyvnytskyi for the first time. In total, in the gallery "Yelisavethrad" it is presented 15 works of the artist, which clearly illustrate the genre and thematic diversity of the artist's creativity. "It is interesting and exciting – how the new viewers will perceive me, their reaction, whether it will be possible to establish a dialogue. Whether the viewers can feel what I wanted to say with my works?" the artist admits.

The exhibition represents almost ten years of the artist's work, for example, canvases executed during 2009-2010 ("Trio", "Two People In A Boat. Strange Dialogue", from the series "Boats"), and quite new works performed during the last year or two (works from the series "Together", "Muffled Presence", "Stop In Time"). Most of the presented works are rather restrained, built on a harmonious combination of monochrome tones, figurative reflections.

Gentle and touching are the works from the series "Together" – paintings depicting horses, which in the artist's imagination associated with the desire for freedom. They are the embodiment of such concepts as strength, courage, independence and at the same time tenderness, love, devotion.

The "Stop in Time" series is tied to the theme of horses. The works of this cycle reproduce material monuments of technical development of human civilization – old cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. In them, as in living beings, lies the eternal beauty, perfection and harmony.

In all his artworks the artist implements the creative idea with the author's technique: acrylic applied on the soil is the underpainting which the cover layer of oil is applied on. Acrylic base after the movement of brush and palette knife begins to come out, creating an effect of the enchanting glow of semitones and shades...

During the opening of the exhibition the founder of the gallery "Yelisavethrad" Mykola Tsukanov noted that thanks to the Art & Culture Foundation Brovdi Art founded by Robert and Nataliya Brovdi, in 2018 the gallery "Yelisavethrad" will host large-scale exhibitions of young artists of Transcarpathia, as well as participants of the Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel".

"The exhibition of the artist Eduard Prykhodko opens our joint project," said M. Tsukanov.  I will not talk about the artist himself, his works will do it. I will only quote one of Eduard's words, which I really liked: 'The atmosphere of Uzhhorod is extremely favourable for a creative person: it is easy to work here'. I, on my part, am sure that the atmosphere of the gallery "Yelisavethrad" is no less favourable: art is appreciated here."

The exhibition "Subjective Reflections" will last in the "Yelisavethrad" gallery till 15 March.
