VERES AGOTA

Member of the Society of Hungarian Artists of Fine and Applied Arts of Transcarpathia named after Imre Revesz (2005). Member of the Hungarian Art Union (2017).

Ahota Veres was born on 12 February 1972 in Berehovo, Transcarpathia. She studied at the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, thus became an actress.

After receiving her diploma, she became a member of Transcarpathian Regional Hungarian Drama Theatre named after Gyula Ijjász and from time to time took part in the staging of the Berehove Hungarian Theatre.

Her first lessons of fine art she received from her father – a famous Transcarpathian artist, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Petro Veres. The passion for painting gradually overtook other preferences and became a matter of life. The state of the soul, love for subtle shades of colour, clear graphics skills prompted the artist to paint. In addition, she creates paintings on silk, knows batik technique.

Ahota also illustrates books: poetry, fairy tales for schoolchildren. She works as a graphic illustrator of the children's edition “IRKA”. From 2005 to 2013, she was teaching children painting at the Art House in Berehovo.

An active participant in regional, all-Ukrainian and international exhibitions. In 2002, she debuted with her first solo exhibition in Mukachevo gallery "St. Martin".

Later, personal exhibitions of the artist were held in Berehove (2004, 2010), Kyiv (in the "NEF" Gallery of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve, 2009), Lenchna (Poland, 2008), Budapest (2018, "Forrash"), and Szentendre (Hungary, 2018). Participated in collective exhibitions in Uzhhorod, Kyiv, Dnipro, Ternopil, cities of Hungary, Belgium, and the Netherlands. A regular participant in international creative camps and festivals.

In 2009, she received a diploma with honours named after Ferenc Rákóczi II from the Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute. On 22 August 2013, at the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhhorod, Ahota Veres was awarded the Silver Cross of the Republic of Hungary.
