Artist, public figure.
Member of the Transcarpathian regional association of masters of folk art and amateur artists.
Vasyl Tsybere was born on 17 December 1931 in Lalovo village, Mukachevo district, Transcarpathia in peasant family. His mother, who worked on a collective farm, instilled in him love of drawing. He received a school education in Lalovo village and Mukachevo, the higher one – in Uzhhorod National University (philological faculty). All his life he worked in education sphere – he has passed the way from a seven-year school teacher in Lokhovo village to the Head of the Department of Culture Executive Committee. From 1967 to 1974 he was Deputy Chairman of the Mukachevo City Executive Committee. Next – he again continuing his pedagogical activity, he received the title of "The Excellence in Public Education of Ukraine" and "Veteran of Labour". Since 1979 he was director of the Mukachevo Art School. In this position, he arranged in the school a gallery of portraits of the most famous Transcarpathian artists, in particular Y. Bokshai, A. Erdeli, I. Hrabar and others. He organized two museums in the institution: the Children's Art Museum (1996), in which the best works of pupils are collected for all the years, and the museum of Munkácsy Mihály (1994), the creation of which he initiated together with his Hungarian counterparts. In 1963 he was invited to the plein air in Mezhhiria for the first time, in which such famous Transcarpathian artists as Zoltan Sholtes, Anton Shepa and Ernest Kontratovich took part. Later not only participated, but he himself organized many plein air in the mountainous areas of the region. He headed ethnographic tours under the name "Wooden Churches of Transcarpathia", where, together with the artists, they reflected the beauty of architectural monuments of the XVII-XIX centuries. A great influence on the work of V. Tsybere had the People's Artist of Ukraine Anton Kashshai, Vasyl Burch and Mykhailo Sapatiuk, with whom he often went to the plein air.
His creativity is bright landscapes, architecture, genre compositions, made in the Carpathians, as well as in Kyiv, Budapest, Prague, and Helsinki. He also performed artistic design works, made stained-glass windows.
He was an active public figure. He occupied the post of deputy head of the Transcarpathian regional association of masters of folk art and amateur artists, and also headed the Mukachevo city centre of this association. In addition, he was deputy head of the "Elders of Mukachevo", head of the artistic association "Rainbow".
Participant in regional and republican expositions. At his personal exhibition, 300 of his works were exhibited at the 75th anniversary of the artist. The artist's paintings are in different institutions of Mukachevo and the region, as well as in private collections, including abroad – in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Canada, and USA. He died November 11, 2007.
