TYMKO VASYL

Laureate of the Regional Prize named after A. Erdeli and Y. Bokshai in the genre of fine, decorative and applied arts (1999, 2005).

He was born on 12 December 1964 in Lintsi village of Uzhhorod district, Transcarpathian region. He studied at the Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts (1981 – 1985) at the department of art metal processing. Teachers: I. Didyk and I. Masniuk. In 1992, he graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (department of art glass). His teachers were A. Bokotei, O. Zvir, V. Ryzhankov. Teacher of the Uzhhorod College of Arts named after A. Erdeli and Transcarpathian Academy of Arts.

Vasyl Tymko works in painting, small plastic, hot enamel, art glass. He is one of the few artists of Transcarpathia who works in the technique of hot enamel and was recognized as an artist-enamellist. This is a rare technique not only in Ukraine but also in Europe. The technique of hot enamel originated in the time of Ancient Egypt, widespread in China, Byzantium and other countries. It is undoubtedly the most durable of all the now well-known millennium years old products have perfectly preserved to the present day. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the technique of hot enamel began its advancement as an easel technique and now successfully competes with painting, drawing, sculpture and other arts. Enamel art is an absolutely new, modern, experimental art in which hot enamel demonstrates a rich range of its plastic possibilities.

Vasyl Tymko has rich experience in the field of sacral painting. He painted churches in Ternopil, Cherkasy, ​​Transcarpathian and other regions of Ukraine, created stained-glass windows for interiors.

Master firmly stands on the foundation of Ukrainian national culture, based on the native religion, philosophy, literature. In his work he starts from the theme and idea, determines the ways of composition. The system of the artist's creation is extremely rich and original, requires a certain cultural level for perception, reading. The artist is sure that art has tremendous power and able to change the world, and therefore with great responsibility refers to life, his creative work.

He is a participant in regional, national and international exhibitions, plein airs, festivals, and symposia. His works can be found in KMUNDM, Museum of Ukrainian Painting, private collections, as well as decorate public and private interiors.
