KORZH TARAS

A member of the youth association at the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Member of the Association of Artists of the Czech Republic (2017).

He was born on 15 June 1989 in Uzhhorod in the artistic family. The father of Taras is the famous sculptor Bohdan Korzh and his mother is a talented painter, graphic artist, muralist Liudmyla Korzh-Radko, who was awarded the honorary title Honoured Artist of Ukraine. The boy grew up in the artistic environment because the creative family of Taras actually consists of several generations of artists who worked in a wide variety of styles, genres and trends.

In 2011, the artist graduated from the Transcarpathian Art Institute, Department of Graphic Design. He is an active participant of painting and sculpture plein airs in Ukraine and abroad, one of which, International Youth Plein Air, was held in 2010 within the framework of the project “Our World Without Borders”, the city of Snina (Slovakia).

He works in the following genres: painting, graphics (including computer graphics), photography, sculpture, and design. The main creative focus is abstract art, which was successfully presented at the personal exhibition in Uzhhorod (2015) and at group exhibitions (Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Uzhhorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Budapest). In his works, the artist abstracts from the real objects that exist in space and time and creates a vibrant dynamic world. A creative interpretation of the colourful motifs characteristic of Transcarpathia generates new decorative images filled with geometric shapes and amorphous spots, which together form a complex composite labyrinth. With the help of clear graphic lines, expressive smears, contrast of colour and rhythms, the author encodes his ideas in abstract images. Demonstrating the irregularity of imagination, the diversity of compositional finds and colourful searches, he does not lose sentimental measure and harmony.

The artist is an active participant in regional, all-Ukrainian and international exhibitions. In particular, in 2015, his works were presented at the First All-Ukrainian Exhibition of Abstract Painting (Kyiv).

At the end of 2017, in the framework of the museum project “Family Values – Family Relations”, the exhibition “From St. Andrew’s Day to St. Nicholas’s, from St. Nicholas Day to St. Basil’s” initiated by Taras Korzh, was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ukraine (Kyiv). The united large artistic family of Korzhs, Radkos and Trehubovs was represented in the exhibition by the works of 11 authors in a wide range of their creative pursuits and art techniques: painting, graphics, watercolours, sculptures, pottery, batik, and porcelain. The family exhibition enables to expand not only the creative achievements of the individual family but also emphasizes the importance of family relationships as sources of creative inspiration and continuity.
