SEKERESH ANTON

A member of the Artistic Society "Raiduha" and the Creative Association "Art Palette Centre".

Anton Sekeresh was born on 9 June 1961 in Kliucharky village, Mukachevo District. He attended the studio of Zoltan Bakoniia. In 1980, he graduated from the Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts, where he studied at the Art Metal Department. His teachers in the speciality were Ivan Masniuk, Ivan Didyk, Yosyp Pal, Ahnesa Bachynska, Vasyl Petretskyi, and Sandor Petki.

In his work, he prefers painting, also engages in ceramics. Especially full and bright is the master’s talent in graphics. His sketches are laconic and accurate, with lightly humorous attitude to the world. The artist creates solid and maximally expressive images, knows how to concentrate on the characteristic details, but discarding the non-essential ones. In painting his priority are a form and a wide tonal range from light to dark. In his early paintings, the artist paid more attention to colours, their harmony.

He paints with oil, but he also has both pastels and watercolours, uses pencil, acrylic, sometimes tempera, gouache and even ballpoint pens – Anton Sekeresh is, in general, open to experiments. He also works with clay, wood, stone and other materials. Engaged in electrotyping.

Among the genre preferences there are portraits, still lifes, but mostly landscapes – it's not surprising: love for the Transcarpathian nature is visible to the naked eye, so the artist can often be found in plein airs. The artist noted: "Although I’ve been a lot outside Ukraine, even overseas, I love Transcarpathian landscapes most of all, as it radiates a special energy."

Participant in regional plein airs and exhibitions. His artistic works are in private collections in the USA, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Belarus, and Moldova. Since 1992, he has been co-operating with Gallery 454 (Detroit, the USA).
