SALLER OLEKSANDR

Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

In 1966, he graduated from the wood art department at Uzhhorod College of Decorative and Applied Arts (his teachers were: V. Svyda, I. Harapko M. Medvetskyi, E. Kontratovych, V. Zvenyhorodskyi). After graduation, he took an active part in regional (since 1968), national (since 1971), and international exhibitions (since 1974). He was the participant of the international plein-airs of painting. Artist's first personal exhibition was held in 1975 in Uzhhorod. For many years he worked as a muralist in Transcarpathian Art and Production Complex, he was the chief artist of this institution twice. He was engaged in creativity in various visual genres - landscape, still life, monumental painting.

Pictures of the artist have original compositional structure, differ in mastery of painting and saturated colour palette. He was fond of the French impressionist Camille Pissarro. It echoed in urban sceneries of the artist, which became his signature works and remarkable phenomenon in painting tradition of Transcarpathia. The artist taught and conveyed his art visions to his son - an artist Robert Saller, who follows the art path of the family. The creative inheritance of the artist consists of about two hundred works purchased by the Directorate of exhibitions of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. They are stored in the Art Museum of Kyiv, and private collections in Ukraine. The artist tragically left this world on December 8, 2002.
