SAHUN MYKHAILO

He was born in 1971 in Kyiv. He has been painting from the very childhood, since the age of 5. The artist graduated from the art school in Kyiv, but he has no special education, he learned to paint on his own. In particular, as the artist himself admits, thanks to the copying of classics’ works: "I liked Shyshkin and Aivazovskyi a lot. But most of all, I was inspired by Claude Monet and Van Gogh. I adored the light of the works of the first one and the courage to make decisions of the second one. Others were close to me because of accuracy. I have set myself the task of combining these best features." During a certain period, together with his wife Inna Korovai, who is also an artist, he lived in Los Angeles (the USA), then moved to Mukachevo for permanent residence.

M. Sahun is an impressionist, immersed in realistic painting, calligraphy, constantly experimenting. Among his works, there are a lot of landscapes of Uzhhorod, Mukachevo and Carpathian Mountains performed mainly with oil.

One of the artist’s works, which deserves special attention, is a three-dimensional painting titled "Proof of What Does Not Happen". The art critics call it "the first 3D painting in the world". The three-dimensional effect was achieved through long and hard work with the colours and shades of oil paints. "There are two layers in the painting," the author said. One is not visible through the red glass, the second - through the blue one. It turns out that for each eye – its own picture. When the layers are combined, the third dimension appears."

The artist is the founder of the creative group "Expromt" together with his wife Inna Korovai and the artist Valentyn Sotov. During its work, the group succeeded in publishing an album about Mukachevo and Los Angeles illustrated by their paintings, carrying out numerous exhibitions, promotions and even the design of candies’ boxes for the well-known in the Transcarpathia brand - dried fruits in chocolate.
