Artist.
He was born in Uzhhorod. The future artist was named after the great composer Wolfgang Mozart, whose music was admired by the Rottmann family. He studied painting in Budapest, then at the Munich Academy of Arts. His mentors and teachers were the artists Berger and Rumpler. At the same time, he was studying music, graduated from the Vienna Conservatory.
Since 1910, the artist started active exhibition activity, for example, the first personal exhibitions were held in Budapest, Vienna and Prague, and then in Munich as well. For some time, he worked in the USA, performing murals.
In art, Mozart Rottmann was a follower of the artistic trends of classicism and realism. The artist achieved considerable popularity through his numerous genre scenes and portraits, which reproduced the typical characters of people, life situations, historical events while preserving the artistic individualization of specific national, ethnic and historical figurative signs. In his paintings, he depicted mostly a rich class of people, without resorting to the themes of suffering, poverty or life dramas. The theme of the Jewish community life was also closed to the artist and accordingly, he depicted it.
In 1960, Mozart Rottmann died in Budapest.
The works of the artist have a great demand on the antique market. In 2006, at the Sotheby's auction in New York, his work "Reading The Talmud" was purchased for 96 thousand dollars.
