PETER MICHAEL

Honoured artist of Ukraine. The laureate of the Regional Prize named after Y. Bokshai and A. Erdeli. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1988. Chairman of the Association of Slovak Artists of Transcarpathia named after Andy Warhol. He was awarded the gold medal of VDNKh for a series of artworks (1986), was awarded the diploma of the International Fund of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. The artist graduated from the faculty of arts and graphics of Odesa State Pedagogical Institute named after K. Ushynskyi (1974). For a long time, he was the chief artist of the Transcarpathian Regional Art and Design Complex.

The artist works in the original style of wet watercolour, as well as in oil painting. Among the genre preferences of the artist, the special place is taken by the landscape. Intimately matching with the realistic context of the Transcarpathian landscape art, the artist looks for and applies his own visual forms and means. The author’s landscapes demonstrate respect for nature and perfection in all artistic dimensions - from the small-sized chamber sketches to the sound and monumental works. Among creative artist’s masterpieces, there are a lot of architectural landscapes and subject compositions. They reveal the author's reflection and interpretation on the themes of being, time, human and nature, moral, ethical and life values.

The participant of collective art exhibitions: regional — since 1973, all-Ukrainian — since 1974, the all-Union (the USSR) — since 1988, foreign (Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, France, the USA, etc.) — since 1987. The participant of the international biennales, triennales and plein airs (Bulgaria, Lithuania, Slovakia, etc.). In 1992 he became a participant of the Exhibition of Ukrainian painting “World School of the Arts” at Harvard and Yale Universities, in the gallery “Choate Rosemary Hall”.

He held 20 personal exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, the last ones were under National Union of Artist of Ukraine as well as at PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv.

The artist's works were purchased by the Directorate of exhibitions of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and Ministry of Culture of Ukraine; they are kept in private collections of numerous countries.
