One of the founders of the People’s Creative Association of Artists and Folk Craftsmen “Artist of Verkhovyna”, which has existed for more than 60 years. He was born in Velyki Porychi (the then Czechoslovakia). In 1949, he entered the Khust Professional Technical College on the Department of Cabinetmakers, and in 1958-Uzhhorod College of Decorative and Applied Arts. Subsequently, he continued his studies at the then Leningrad Academy of Arts, where he deepened his knowledge in the field of art criticism.
The works of one of the most outstanding representatives of the artists of the 60s of Transcarpathia are recognized far beyond Ukraine thanks to the unique author's approach to painting. The artist very accurately combines inherent in Transcarpathia decorative art with classical painting and drawing. Master delicately feels the space and dynamics, also the artist has a special combination of colours.
Among the artist's works there are perfect landscapes of his native Silver Land, still lifes and portraits. He willingly highlights historical, ethnographic, philosophical and religious themes in his own unique image. In addition, he is the author of the continuous art project – one of the most fundamental research, in which it was recorded and analysed embroidery, carving and ceramics of Marmaroshchyna.
Even in his venerable 83 years, the artist bravely experiments and changes himself all the time, looking for himself and improving his style.
For his long creative career, the artist was an invariable participant in the plein airs, symposiums. He artfully decorated cultural, recreational and shopping facilities across the Transcarpathian region. He was also the author of the cross – a historical memorial in Krasne Pole as well as the project of the Khust Local History Museum. The artist's works are kept in the galleries and private collections of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Russia, Poland, Israel, and the United States.
