Painter and muralist.
He was one of the prominent representatives of Transcarpathian School of Painting. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1960), Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1985). The husband of the well-known artist of decorative and applied arts, painter and graphic artist, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Edita Medvetska-Lutak. The father of a painter Ahnesa Medvetska.
He was born in Izki village of Mizhhiria district, Transcarpathian region. In 1952, he graduated from the Painting Department of the Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts (his teachers were Y. Bokshai and A. Erdeli), and in 1958 – from the Faculty of Decorative and Monumental Painting of Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (his teachers were R. Selskyi, Yu. Shcherbatenko).
He was known as an artist and a talented pedagogue, who for many years had been working in Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts. Among his pupils, there were such eminent artists as People’s Artists of Ukraine T. Danylych and V. Skakandii, Honoured Artist of Ukraine P. Feldeshi and others. Participant in art exhibitions: regional, all-Ukrainian, all-Union - since 1958, foreign - since 1967. Participant in international plein airs.
Personal exhibitions: 1982 - Lviv, Chernivtsi, 1985 - Nyíregyháza (Hungary), 1994 - Keszthely (Hungary). He worked in the field of easel painting, monumental art. He created numerous monumental paintings in the cities of the former USSR. In particular, he designed the Soviet bus stops in Transcarpathia, using sgraffito. Some of them can be still seen nowadays and it is a kind of the highlight of the region.
In 1991 Mykola moved to Hungary. The artist’s works are bought by the Ministry of Culture and Art of Ukraine, they can be also found in the collections of museums of Ukraine and foreign countries.
