А painter, graphic artist and public figure. The son of national artist of Ukraine F. Manailo.
In 1966, he graduated from art and pedagogical faculty of Kyiv Art Institute. In 1968-1973 he worked in Art Fund of the Transcarpathian Department of the Union of Artist. Since 1966, he was a lecturer, and in 1973-1985 - a director of Uzhhorod College of Decorative and Applied Arts. Among his pupils there were famous figures of the Transcarpathian art - A. Medvetska, V. Svaliavchyk, N. Boretska-Hrabar, O. Dolhosh-Sopko, O. Lukach, M. Berets, V. Pavlyshyn, O. Mondych, O. Malesh, M. Pryimych, L. Pryimych, A. Kovach, V. Cherepania, I. Molnar. Since 1961, he was the participant of regional, national, international art exhibitions, held about ten personal exhibitions. He was the initiator and organizer of establishment of the memorial house museum of Fedir Manailo (1981). One of the founders and the first head of the Association of Professional Artists of Transcarpathia (1990-1993). Manager of International Association “Inter art” (1989-1993).
In 1998, the artist moved to Hungary, where he conducted active creative and exhibition activities, took part in the Cultural Society of Rusyns in Hungary. The major artist’s techniques were easel and monumental painting. Having original manner of painting, he actively experimented in various styles – from cubism to realism.
His art heritage is represented by almost all genres. The artist was able to create the polyphonic picturesque portraits, multi-figure compositions. In landscapes, he deeply penetrated into nature treasures and hidden magic forces of the Carpathian land by means of his expressional visions. He was distinguished by spiritualized chamber still lifes. The artist achieved significant progress in graphic arts. Unusual decorative effects created by splitting picturesque planes into fragments in the artist's canvases have something in common with the masterpieces of the modernist style in music. The association of images and sounds led to a series of his paintings devoted to the music of different composers. Works of the artist are stored in the museums and private collections of Ukraine, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Georgia, Russia, Croatia, Austria, Germany.
