Biography

Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2012).

Oleksandr Lypchei was born in 1961 in Vilkhivka village, Irshava district, Transcarpathian region. He was born in the family of teachers. In 1978, he successfully graduated from the high school, and in 1984 – the medical faculty of Uzhhorod State University.

The early period of the Oleksandr Lypchei’s creativity is marked by the influence of Zoltan Sholtes, Yosyp Bokshai, Andrii Kotska and other artists. His early canvases, made in the best traditions of the Transcarpathian school. His first mentor was his father Stepan –  a teacher of drawing at school. When a child, he also studied at Zoltan Bakoniia.

Art historians note that the artist's creative work harmoniously fit into the school's framework, while not being lost in it, taking its special place there. As a painter, it is distinguished clearly and correctly put a picture, usually a fairly restrained colour scheme, rich in semitones. The artist's works are based on his native land, unique Carpathian landscape. The artist avoids excessive detail, focusing on the main tonal relationships.

The first personal exhibition of the artist took place in 1983 in the art cafe "Forum". Since then, he has participated in regional, republican, and international exhibitions.
