A painter, graphic artist
He was born on 2 January 1952 in Rakhiv, Transcarpathian region. His passion for drawing was inspired by his grandfather – People's Artist Yurii Vorokhta, who was engaged in painting and carving. His grandfather collected a large library, in particular, numerous books about fine arts used by the future artist with great pleasure. When a schoolboy, Mykola Koval visited an art studio under the direction of Vasyl Zeikan.
In 1973, it was opened the artist’s first exhibition in Khust. In 1979, Mykola Koval started working at the furniture factory in Rakhiv. There he became the author of the officially approved by the Art Council souvenir paintings dedicated to the 1500th anniversary of Kyiv – two sketches of intarsia (a picture consists of different tree species).
In 1981, the artist entered the Odesa Pedagogical Institute named after K. Ushynskyi, Art and Graphics faculty. Mykola and Alla Vorokhta, Yan Pashko had a significant influence on the creativity of Mykola Koval.
Participant in the district and regional exhibitions. A lot of works are kept in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
Recently, Mykola Koval has been living and working in the Czech Republic.
