Biography

Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1985). Three times the laureate of the Regional Prize named after Y. Bokshai and A. Erdeli (1997, 2008). Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2016).

He was born in Jablonec nad Nisou village in the then Czechoslovakia. In 1972 he graduated from the Uzhhorod School of Applied Arts, and in 1978 – the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts.

The master works in the genres of sculptural portrait, medallion art, sculpture of small forms, landscape gardening and monumental sculpture. "I did many different things: monuments, medals, busts, statues, memorial plaques. In all, probably about a thousand works, this is one of those for which you are not ashamed, which are finalized and form the name, the brand of the sculptor, "– says the author. Materials that he prefers – clay, stone, bronze. The artist's works are attracted by a thoughtful analysis of forms, evidence of the author's persistent search for new techniques of plastic expressiveness.

The main work of the sculptor, which gained recognition among the Ukrainian community of Hungary, is the production of a monument to King Andras the First and his wife Anastasiia – the daughter of Yaroslav the Wise.

His works were dedicated to the artist Zoltan Bakoniia, writer Ivan Chendei and other outstanding personalities, memorial plaques to the writer Markush in Khust, the police major Babiuk in Uzhhorod. Also, the sculptor made a memorial plaque in honour of the 100th anniversary of the resettlement of Rusyns-Ukrainian to Croatia (Slavonski Brod), a memorial plaque dedicated to the artist Adalbert Boretskyi in Slovakia. One of Bohdan Korzh's recent works was a plate dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the organization "Prosvita" in the Croatian city of Zagreb.

Participant of art exhibitions: since 1976 – all-Ukrainian and foreign – since 1982, symposiums of sculpture in stone and international plein airs – since 1985. Author of about twenty personal exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Works of the master are in museums and galleries in many cities of Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Egypt and other countries, as well as in private collections in Europe, Asia and America.
