KOPANSKA MARIIA

She received her art education at Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts (1987) and at Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1992). Since 1992 she has been working as a lecturer, and since 2016 – as a director of Uzhhorod College of Arts named after A. Erdeli, Transcarpathian Academy of Arts.

Favourite artist’s techniques are watercolour, oil, and among genres – portrait, landscape, still life. In the works of the author there is also graphics. In the thematic sense, she tries to find herself in many directions: she depicts people, nature, turns to genre compositions. The subject of her creative interests is the illustration of children's books, as well as the manufacture and restoration of stained-glass windows (together with her husband she worked on the restoration of stained-glass windows in the Khrestovozdvyzhenskyi Cathedral Greek-Catholic Cathedral in Uzhhorod).

In a special artist refers to folk art, she sees in it a huge source for inspiration: Folk art is a centuries-old experience, a spiritual heritage of materializing ideas, built on the laws of the universe and life. She is the participant of regional plein airs and exhibitions, in particular, annually exhibits works in the expositions devoted to the Artist's Day and at the exhibitions «Graphic Transcarpathia». In 2006 together with her husband – an artist Yurii Kopanskyi, she held a personal exhibition in Uzhhorod. The artist's works are in many private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
