Biography

Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1976.

She was born in Russia. However, since her student years she has lived and been engaged in creativity in Ukraine. In 1968 she graduated from the Weaving Department of Lviv College of Applied Art named after I. Trush. Since 1969, she worked at art and design studios of Ternopil, and since 1980 – in Transcarpathian Regional Art and Design Complex of the Art Fund of the USSR in Uzhhorod.

She works in monumental art, easel and book graphics, tapestry, glass painting.

In 1970, she married a painter Petro Hulyn. They jointly performed monumental paintings, stained-glass windows and illustrations for books. Among such joint monumental works of the two artists in Uzhhorod, there are stained-glass windows in the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, stained-glass and painting of the Uzhhorod kindergarten No.39, painting at “Padiiun”, and monumental tapestry and glass paintings in the children's library “Tale”. Art historians consider his execution of paintings to be highly artistic, multi-figured, compositionally complex as to construction, and rich in colour.

The special attention in her creativity the artist paid to the design of children’s books. Since 1970, Nadiia Kyrylova, together with Petro Hulyn, has illustrated more than 50 Ukrainian and foreign publications, among which there are “Village Musicians” (1970), “Who Scattered Dew?” (1975), “Whale and Elephant, We, and The Steamboat” (1977), “Is There Something Lighter In The World?” (1977), “Hide and Seek” (1978), “A Hut Was There” (1979), “Living Water” (1980), "Golden-haired" (1981), "Wooden Miracle" (1981), "Fairy Orbit" (1981), "Slovak Folk Tales" (1982; 1990; all – Kyiv); “Flame” (1984), “Folk Funs of Transcarpathia” (1985); “A Magic Flower” (1986), “In The Summer Forest” (1987), “The Saved Bird” (1987), “Wedding of Birds” (1989), and others. Сhildren's books and fairy tales collections with their illustrations, published by “Dnipro”, “Kameniar”, “Veselka”, “Karpaty” publishing offices.

 When creating, she uses silhouette compositions, which are traditional for Chinese and Japanese schools of painting, as well as bright accented colour palette. Otherwise, the painting of the artist is delicate, light and not oversaturated with colours.

The participant of all-Ukrainian (since 1969), all-Union (the USSR since 1970) and international (since 1978) exhibitions. The artist held several personal exhibitions in Uzhhorod, Lviv, Moscow, and Warsaw.
