KERECHANYN MYKOLA

Honorary Doctor of International Academy of Sciences and Arts (posthumously in 2010). Founder of the International Association of Independent Artists named after Anton Kashshai. Laureate of the Fund for Peace of the former USSR, Honorary Member of the International Association of Fine Arts of UNESCO.

Mykola was born in Uzhhorod. Before becoming an artist, he was engaged in sports, became a senior judge of the international category on motor racing. For the first time he began to exhibit his painting works in 1975 and in general dedicated to art more than 30 years of his life.

From 1978 he worked in the regional art studios of the regional “Art Fund”. Vocational training as an artist he gained through friendly relations with the prominent Transcarpathian artist Anton Kashshai. Since late 1980s he was active in diplomatic work in Hungary, deeply promoting Ukrainian culture, arranging exhibitions and professional art groups performances. While in Hungary, he held a number of personal painting exhibitions. At the artist’s initiative in the early 1990s it was established in the International Union of Independent Artists named after Anton Kashshai, which united the artists from four countries - Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary.

He was brought up in the tradition of Transcarpathian school of painting, the master of brush enriched the palette of national art by hundreds paintings. The artist left a significant heritage - hundreds of paintings with the magnificent landscapes. His works are kept in museums and private collections in Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Canada, and the United States.
