HARAHONYCH OLEH

He was born in Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region. In 1971, he graduated from the Uzhhorod Musical College. In addition to music, he was fond of fine arts. From 1974 to 1998 he worked as a teacher in the Mukachevo Children's Art School. His favourite genre was landscape. In his paintings he mainly depicted mountain landscapes, diligently taking care of all the constituent elements of the work - lines, tones, colours, shape, and content, that help to concentrate attention and create the appropriate mood. The artist had his own distinct style and virtuosic handwriting.

His creative manner was individual, the colour palette was bright, light, almost without black and dark shades, in the works one could feel balanced and extremely optimistic perception of the world, that is why he was rightly called a “sun lover” (the one who loved the sun). “Colour conceals not revealed, more powerful force than people usually think. Colour is in every molecule of life. Colour is an attitude to life, to the world, this is a living image! I believe that black colour kills a picture. Even the twilight on the canvas should glow with warmth,”- the artist claimed. He was the participant of regional, all-Ukrainian and foreign art exhibitions since 1976.

He was also the participant of all-Ukrainian painting triennials in Kyiv in 1998, 2001, and 2007. His personal exhibitions were held in Mukachevo (1979, 1985, 1989, 1997, 1999, 2007, 2008, 2012); Uzhhorod (1998, 2007); Poprad, Zilina, Bratislava (Slovakia, 2008). The works were purchased by the Directorate of Exhibitions of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. The artist’s works are in numerous private collections in Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, the USA, Canada, France, Germany.
