An artist, a blacksmith.
He was born in Uzhhorod. From 1973 to 1983 he attended the studio of fine arts of Zoltan Bakonii. In 1983, he took part in the first art exhibition “Transcarpathian Days in the Eastern Slovak Village”. From 1984 to 1988 he studied at the Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts (his teachers were I. Didyk, I. Bachynskyi). Since 1992 he is fond of art blacksmithing.
In his works the artist reproduces and reinterprets a person's path to light and perfection. Studying the Scriptures, through the prism of his own vision, the artist depicts on the canvases biblical motifs, struggle between good and evil. Yurii Handera works mainly in the technique of oil painting and graphics.
The colour palette of the artist reflects various moods and states of mind while painting: there are not only dark colours-as the embodiment of sin, darkness, sadness, but also light, bright, golden shades, as symbols of purification, holiness.
Light in the artist's works is Jesus Christ, faith and love. The author’s of personal exhibitions: “I exist” (1993), exhibition of works of painting and blacksmith (2003), “Found” (2015), “Solution” (2017). He is the participant of regional collective art exhibitions.
