HAIOVYCH PETRO

Member of the Union of Architects of Ukraine. In 1961-1964 he studied at the studio of Honoured Artist of Ukraine H. I. Matviienko, from 1966 to 1971- in the studio of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine M. Pushnyi. Profession of an architect he obtained at the architecture faculty of the Civil Engineering Institute in Dnepropetrovsk. After graduation, he moved to Uzhhorod, where in different years he worked in project organizations, “Art Fund”, Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Local Lore, he was a deputy chief architect of Uzhhorod. The main part of his life was occupied by the work of the architect. He is the author of several well-known architectural objects, including the Palace of Children and Youth (Padiiun), the shopping centre “Edelweiss” in Uzhhorod.

The artist is engaged in painting mainly in his spare time. Landscape and portrait are his main thematic genres. City and rural landscapes, Carpathian landscapes, nature of native land are reflected on the canvases of the artist. Close to him is also the sacred theme: temples, churches are often depicted in the paintings of the artist, reflecting its high spirituality. When drawing paintings, the artist primarily prefers the watercolour technique, although he has works with oil paints. “Watercolour has many advantages for me, - says the artist. Very few people know this technique, not everyone is exposed to it, but to the one who is persistent, it comes with age. And, when it came to me - it was a discovery. In general, I think over for a long time before I start creating next painting. I have to make sketches, etudes, and impression of nature. But, when the thought that I should draw comes, I take paper and it seems that the brush draws by itself, and I just watch this process and get the incredible pleasure ...”
