FEDYNETS (FRUTSI) ATANAZ

Аn artist and photographer, well-known in the artistic circles as Frutsi. He was the member of the National Union of Artists of Hungary as well as at club of artists "Corvin". He was born in Uzhhorod in the family of the outstanding Transcarpathian doctor-surgeon Oleksandr Fedynets. The son followed his father's path. He entered the medical faculty of Uzhhorod University and received the degree of radiologist. In 1973, he graduated from Odessa one-year School of Arts. His rapprochement with art started in his student's years. Among his friends there was a famous film director S. Paradzhanov, artists F. Seman and A. Dunchak. He was also inspired by the elder masters - F. Manailo, A. Kashshai.

He was the bright representative of the avant-garde art bohemia of Transcarpathia of the 1970th. The artist was fond of photography, theatre, music, and pictures collecting. Having taken up painting, he was able to organically combine the Transcarpathian artistic traditions with the principles of expressionism and naive art that were close to him, as well as contemporary modern trends.

The most significant feature of his art was original, stylistically and compositionally justified "primitivism." In his paintings the expression is at the level of form and colour, sometimes reaching grotesque. In 1980, the artist moved to Hungary, where he actively painted, and even opened art gallery in his own house. The fate of the artist's creative heritage, as well as his collections of Transcarpathian artists’ works, is currently unknown.
