Biography

Oleksii Dynnyk is one of the bright representatives of the young generation of the Transcarpathia artists.

He was born on 11 November 1988, in Stuzhytsia village, Velykyi Bereznyi district, Transcarpathia, in a family where he was surrounded by art since his childhood. Oleksii's father, Viktor Yakovych, is also an artist. And it is quite natural, because the one who visits Transcarpathia, where the artist comes from, at least once will understand that to be born an artist with a subtle sense of beauty amongst the impressive natural beauty is quite likely.

Oleksii revealed his creative abilities not at once, preferring, like most boys, football and other interesting things. Everything became clear when a young man began to attend a school of fine arts in high school. He liked the creative atmosphere of the studios, so he willingly spent time painting. Then came awareness of his vocation.

In order to receive education, the future artist chose artistic educational institutions of Uzhhorod: at first – College of Arts named after A. Erdeli, and later – Transcarpathian Artistic Institute (now – Academy of Arts), Department of Art Wood Processing. One of the iconic teachers, who contributed to the creative formation of the young artist, was the famous Transcarpathian painter, graphic artist Anton Kovach.

It is probably impossible to abstract away from the creativity of many generations of the artists in order to develop a unique style. The feeling of belonging to certain art trends or to invention of a new one comes organically and gradually, including through familiarity with the world wealth. Within a considerable list of the artists who inspire the author, there are the artists of the second half of the 19th century: a symbolist Mykhailo Vrubel, Valentyn Sierov – a well-known representative of the impressionism in Russian art, whose creativity was evolved from academism to contemporary art, Isaac Levitan, known for his pastoral landscapes, as well as the representatives of the contemporary American painting school – artists Jeremy Lypking and Jeremy Mann.

In oil painting, Oleksii found an artistic style that aptly conveys his mood and experience. For the author's creativity, peculiar are the figurative subject compositions and portraits, and for spiritual relaxation, the artist created landscapes and still lifes. The artist's works are atmospheric, full of relaxed colours or vice versa – their presence is minimal. The author's style identifies the canvas with a fragment of the old film, which may be almost finished, and the viewer will not have time to enjoy and comprehend the essence, which makes look attentively at the work. The artist depicts unvarnished reality with its hard sides, while simultaneously making a balanced aesthetics.

Separately, it's worth remembering portraits depicting mimes. His characters are in a state of solitude, reflection, sorrow and, sometimes, despair, so the mask of fun is sharply in contrast to the mood of the created image. In a complete daily carnival, life becomes a game, and the game becomes a life. The works of the author are full of irony, where some sentimental drama prevails over comic things.

The artist combines creativity with teaching at the Uzhhorod College of Arts named after A. Erdeli, Department of Art Wood Processing, where he himself studied.

Oleksii Dynnyk is a member of the Youth Department of the Transcarpathian Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

In 2014, the artist began his exhibition activity at art gallery of Khust together with his colleagues, friends and main motivators Vasyl Kohutych and Vasyl Kadar, where among eighty canvases presented were twenty-one works by Oleksii.

Among the iconic exhibitions, there should be noted the Uzhhorod expositions of 2017 “Ontology. Process – 3” (curated by Taras Tabaka and Mykhailo Ilko) and “Goodbye, Word” (curated by Taras Tabaka), at which the works of the young and progressive artists, in general, destroy stereotypes about contemporary regional painting.
