Laureate of the Regional Prize name after Y. Bokshai and A. Erdeli (2008).
Ivan Tsybyna was born on 12 October 1976 in Uzhhorod. In 1991, he successfully entered the Department of Art Wood of the College of Arts named after A. Erdeli, where his mentors were I Didyk, M. Kopanska, A. Chopoidalo. The basis of the academic depicting of a person in sculpture he studied at M. Mykhailiuk, and later, in 1997, he entered the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Department of Monumental and Decorative Sculpture. He studied at famous Lviv sculptors-pedagogues – V. Podolskyi and Y. Mysko.
Tsubyna works in the genres of monumental and easel sculptures. The main object of his work is a person. Another artist’s interest is portrait genre, in which he reveals his senses of portrait psychology, ability to see and reproduce the character of a person, his inner state and mood. The compositions of the sculptor are distinguished by monumental thinking, skilful volumes and plastic means, a spatial game of forms.
According to art critics, I. Tsubyna has such principles of monumental sculptural composition as an attaching to the architectural situation, expressiveness of the internal compositional core, the richness of volumes. Over time, it was formed the artist's own style, characterized by the decorative generalization and form geometrization, the monumental integrity and composition conciseness, expressiveness and ductility of volumes, embodied in the work "St. Peter" for the facade of the Greek Catholic Cathedral in Uzhhorod. His works show his own plastic preferences, the freedom of spatial composition, laconicism of the silhouette, generalization of volumes.
The author of numerous works in the region, such as Francis Rákóczi’s sculpture in Mukachevo, a monument to St. Cyril and Methodius in Drachyno village (Svaliava district), performed in co-authorship with college mates O. Yelezarov and M. Kolodko. The most significant portrait compositions – memorial plaques to Petro Skunts and Mykhailo Krechko, a bust of Adalbert Erdeli.
Since 2010, I. Tsubyna has been working in the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts, teaching sculpture. He is sometimes engaged in painting, creating landscapes with minimal means.
In 2008, he was awarded the Prize named after Y. Bokshai and A. Erdeli for the "Bear" sculpture (located at the main entrance of the Hotel "Zakarpattia"), performed in co-authorship with Oleksandr Yelezarov and Mykhailo Kolodko.
Participant in collective and personal exhibitions, contests.
