BOKSHAI YOSYP (JUNIOR)

Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1963).

He was born on 18 March 1930 in Uzhhorod. Son of one of the founders of Transcarpathian School of Painting name after Y. Bokshai. He graduated from Uzhhorod School of Applied Art (1951) and Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1957).

First of all, Yosyp Bokshai (jr.) Is known as a monumental artist. The first orders were received and started to be performed since 1959. In creative collaboration, he worked with such well-known artists as V. Zvenyhorodskyi, M. Medvedskyi, P. Balla, and A.Shepa. Most of the monumental works are made in the technique of sgraffito. He was engaged in decoration of interiors of restaurants, recreation centers and car pavilions. The artist embodied a large number of decorative panels and several friezes, among them:  "Cycles From The Life Of Transcarpathia", Tiachiv (1966), "Youth", Turia Remeta Village (1967), "Forest Wealth", Berehovo (1969), "Song" and "Still Life", Rivne (1970), "Vacation", Yalta (1971 – 1972) and others.

Since the mid-1980s, the artist is mainly engaged in easel painting. Landscapes and still lifes became the favourite genres of the artist. Among the creative work there are also figurative compositions in which the artist depicted the traditions and life of Transcarpathians.

Participant of the regional (since 1951), national and foreign (1961) art exhibitions. Held two personal exhibitions in Hungary – in the city of Szombathely (1993) and Keseg (1997).
