BOBITA VASYL

Vasyl Bobita was born on 18 December 1962 in Irshava, Transcarpathian region. He started painting at school – participated in contests and exhibitions. He received his artistic education at the Uzhhorod School of Applied Arts (1978 – 1982). The formation of the creative personality of Vasyl was influenced by the works of such famous artists as A. Erdeli, F. Manailo, G. Gluck, A. Kashshai, V. Prykhodko, Y. Herts, N. Hlushchenko, A. Kryvolap, T. Szilvashi, and P. Lebedynets.

From 1985 to 1989, he was working as a designer in the Transcarpathian Industrial Art and Desing Complex. He organized and headed the artistic group "Spectrum" (1989 – 1992) together with four artists. From 1992 to 1995 he was working in the Czech Republic, where he performed numerous sketches, etudes, and landscapes.

In the artist's work prevailing is easel painting. There are also a variety of genres, in particular, landscape, still life, and cityscape. The artist also experiments with colour and composition within abstract painting.

In general, the main factor of Vasyl Bobita’s self-expression is colour. The main purpose of the artist is to achieve a combination of powerful, bright and clean colours that would positively affect the emotional state of a viewer. To achieve the goal, the artist practices and experiments with various techniques. One can recognise such directions as impressionism, cubism, modernism, constructivism, and abstractionism.

Since 1985 he has been a participant in regional, all-Ukrainian and international art exhibitions. His latest solo exhibitions were held in Uzhhorod (2015, 2017), Mukachevo (2017).

A lot of the artist's paintings are kept in private collections of Ukraine, Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, the USA, and Germany.
