Biography

Maryna Bilak was born on 4 December 1984 in Rakhiv, Transcarpathian region.  Since school years, the girl has been engaged in painting in the studio of the famous artist Ivan Doroban.

Having graduated from high school with honours, in 2002, she entered the Institute of Art of the Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanyk. In 2007, she did her Master's Degree with honours. Objects of her scientific research were old wooden churches of the 18th century of Eastern Slovakia.

During 2008-2011, she studied at the Charles University in Prague, the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts. From 2012 to 2014, the artist was mastering the speciality in the New York studio of painting, drawing and sculpture (the USA).

The Carpathian landscapes and floral composite still lifes are the main genre component of the creative work of the artist who works in the field of oil painting. A special place is occupied by the works that glorify the female beauty, where on the childlike light canvases there is a fairy tale of Verkhovyna.

In 2010, the author published her first book-catalogue with the best of her works, articles, and poetry.

Since 2000, a young artist has participated in collective and personal exhibitions held in Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary and the United States of America.

She was awarded numerous diplomas, in particular, a diploma for significant professional achievements, high intellectual contribution to the spiritual development of the citizens of Transcarpathia (2008), the breastplate of the International Intellectual Economic and Creative Council “VIZHY-3000” (2009).

The works of Maryna Bilak are kept in private collections in Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Spain, the USA, and Japan.
