Biography

He was born on 27 July 1974 in Perechyn, Transcarpathian region, but soon the family moves to Uzhhorod. An irresistible desire to paint he felt since his childhood – it became the reason for punishment for the painted school notebooks, and to the rewards and prizes at the Olympiads in drawing. For some time, he attended art studio of Zoltan Bakoniia.

In 1989-90 he studied at the Department of Ceramics in the Uzhhorod School of Applied Arts. The creative development of the author was greatly influenced by Vasyl Roman and Mykola Rohal – it was thanks to them that the young man began to look at art in a different way. So comes the realization that in addition to realism, there are many other styles for visual expression, in particular, the young artist was interested in avant-garde trends. At the same time, he discovers for himself the impressionists and for the rest of his life falls in love with the art of world-famous artists such as Vasyl Kandynskyi, Jackson Pollock, Piet Mondrian, in the sculpture of Aleksandr Arkhipenko and the architect Le Corbusier.

Since 1992, Andrii Antoniev studied graphic design at the Ukrainian Academy of Printing (Lviv), which, with a break for service in the armed forces, graduated in 2000.

In the same year, he defended his diploma and together with his wife Adrianna (her maiden surname Malchytska), with whom he studied at the academy, moved to Mukachevo. First, he got a job as a teacher of fine arts in secondary schools. Since 2002 he works as a teacher of painting, drawing, composition and art history at the specialized Children's Art School named after. M. Munkácsy in Mukachevo.

From 2007 to 2017 he taught graphic design and fonts at the Department of Design of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts.

Creativity of the author is diverse: this is a graphic, and multicentre oil painting, and abstraction. Occasionally he keens on stained-glass windows, drawing caricatures, as well he does not abandon attempts to master the techniques of 3D animation. The artist is not afraid to experiment with styles and colours. She likes to use the author's technique of combining easel painting, graphics with computer technologies.

Andrii Antoniev notes: "Drawing is my organic state. In general, themes for work I draw in nature, occasionally in society. In the graphic, I feel the emotional tension, the synthesis of form and energy, and in painting, on the contrary – the peace of mind and the accumulation of energy through the prism of the analysis of form. "

The artist's personal exhibitions took place in 2000 and 2014. Also, the author's works were exhibited at many collective exhibitions in Ukraine and neighbouring Slovakia and Hungary. The artist actively participates in regional and foreign plein airs.

The artist's works are kept in private collections in Japan, the Netherlands, Great Britain, USA, Germany, Israel, France, Italy and other countries.
