Exhibition of Janos Reiti

Sunny landscapes, vivid figurative and graphic arts with folklore motifs – on 25 February 2019, at the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhhorod it was opened an exhibition of Transcarpathian artist Janos Reiti. These days the artist celebrates his 70th anniversary, thus the exhibition is a jubilee.

A dozen works are presented to the audience: these are oil Transcarpathian landscapes, extraordinary figurative and fastidious mythological graphics with ink and pastels.

In general, the artist has an extremely large number of works in various techniques: besides the traditional oil, Janos Reiti likes the graphics – watercolour, pastel, ink. At this exhibition, the author presented a peculiar cut from the mid-1990s to the present.

“I love expressionism and impressionism, which are inherent in European art. Such artists as Bokshai and Erdeli laid in the foundation of Transcarpathian School of painting the better from the European tradition. And I want to continue the tradition of the Transcarpathian School of painting – we live in such a beautiful, flowering land, where all seasons are perfect”, – Janos Reiti tells about his creativity.

At the opening of the exhibition, First Deputy General Consul Laszlo Kuti noticed that artist Reiti is one of the most diverse artists in the region, thus only a small part of his enormous and interesting works are presented here.

The exposition will last until 25 March 2019.
