2017
On July 27, a personal exhibition of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine, a native of the Transcarpathian Rakhiv Mykola Vorokhta was opened in the premises of the Literary Museum in Odesa. The exposition titled "Confession" is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the artist.
Mykola Vorokhta was born in Rakhiv, Transcarpathia, but after studying in Odesa he remained in the city at the seaside. Nevertheless, the artist, whose creative development was influenced at one time by meetings with the national master of Rakhiv region M. Tulaidan and the People’s Artist of Ukraine A. Kotska, he never changed his native land in his heart – he often came to the Carpathians to plein airs. Nevertheless, the artist painted something that he liked, boldly experimented. That is why the subject of the artist's works is quite wide: from traditional mountain and sea landscapes to innovative works using non-traditional techniques and materials; from painting to author's graphics; from abstract art to works in the genre of socialist realism.
At the retrospective exhibition there are 140 paintings – these are all the works created by the artist since 1965 up to this day. The exposition will last until August 20, 2017.
